Over at rugbystore.co.uk we’ve reduced the price of the adidas Predator RX boots in both the soft ground [SG] and firm ground [FG] options.
These are still a premium priced boot, so we thought it might be helpful to highlight some of the key technologies and design features that go into such an iconic boot – the adi Pred.
First up; the Predator RX is a rugby boot. Designed and built to fit rugby players feet, these are wider fitting in the mid-foot than football Pred’s. This better fit makes them more comfortable and reduces the risk of injury.

Made from Taurus full grain leather, it combines high abrasion and tear resistance, lightweight, a natural look and feel and weather proofing.
The Predator technology itself extends across the instep and front of the boot, increasing the contact area on the kicking surface. This increases swerve control and kick accuracy and gives the same performance in both wet and dry conditions.
Additionally, the Predator Powerspine, an integral part of the insole, has been further improved to give 7% more power than previous Predator models.
The SG boots use adidas’ X-TRAXION soft ground hybrid outsole that combines the well known Traxion sole with a round stud tip, ideal for soft ground conditions.
The FG boot is ideally suited to harder natural surfaces.
If further proof were needed of the Pred’s heritage, you only need to look at who is already wearing them. With a long list of top international players under their belt, names like Dan Carter, Jonny Wilkinson and Brian O’Driscoll are just a few of the current generation sporting this legendary bit of footwear.
